Labor is crew times hours times a loaded rate

Three people for two days is not three times two days times a wage; it is that times the rate that also carries burden, the truck, the tools and the time between jobs. The template asks for the loaded rate and shows the crew hours on the job, because the crew hours are what the schedule will actually consume and the number the foreman checks the estimate against.

Plants and materials marked up as one line

Plants, trees, soil, mulch, rock and hardscape materials go in at your cost and are marked up to cover the nursery run, the tree that dies in the first month and the pallet that arrives short. The estimate shows the marked-up figure as one line rather than a cost and a markup, because the markup is how the price was reached, not a fee the customer negotiates.

Pass-throughs as lines, and the deposit last

Equipment rental, fuel and haul-off are shown as the lines they are, so the customer sees what is yours and what is passed through. The deposit to start comes last as a share of the total, which is the number the customer needs to write a cheque for, and the one that pays for the plants before they go in the ground.
